The Basque Ryukyu Bridge

The music of Euskal Herria – the Basque Country – has been featured regularly on this blog. So much so that some readers might have thought the Power of Okinawa was in danger of being hijacked by the Basques. A solution may have been found with the formation of The Basque Ryukyu Bridge, a new Facebook page devoted to the music and culture of both Basques and Okinawans. The page will focus initially on the Basque side of things but will also introduce some music and culture from Okinawa.

Its purpose is to exchange the music and culture of the Basque Country and the Ryukyu Islands, and to help spread awareness of all things Basque to people in Okinawa and beyond. By connecting these two important and vibrant cultures (with more in common than might be obvious at first glance) it is also hoped that some musical and cultural meetings and exchanges might be possible in the future.
